Vitamin C baby

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin found naturally in some fruits and vegetables. Vitamin C is also known as ascorbic acid and is an essential vitamin which means it is a nutrient the body cannot make.

Most people are aware of Vitamin C’s immune-boosting benefits. But did you know that getting enough Vitamin C during pregnancy may help reduce the risk of complications such as pre‐eclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction, premature rupture of membranes, urinary tract infections, and maternal anemia?

Great sources of vitamin C include citrus fruits (oranges, grapefruit, and lemons), strawberries, kiwi, bell peppers (especially red and yellow), broccoli, tomatoes, brussels sprouts, and spinach.

Pregnant women should prioritize vitamin C-rich foods due to its role in collagen formation (part of skin, blood vessels, tendons, and bone), antioxidant protection, and fetal development.
