Why blue marble birth?

Birth connects us.

Why do I call my business Blue Marble Birth? The term “blue marble” is often used to describe earth as it appears from space. I believe birth is a universal experience that connects women around the world.

Shared Experience: All women, regardless of cultural or geographical differences, share the biological experience of pregnancy and childbirth. The experience creates common ground that transcends cultural boundaries.

A Universal Bond: Motherhood is a shared identity that knows no geographical borders. The challenges, joys, and responsibilities associated with rearing children create global sisterhood.

Global Support Networks: With technology, women around the world can connect in online platforms, forums, and social media allowing mothers to share experiences, seek advice, and offer support to one another. This interconnectedness creates a global community of women as they navigate the joys and challenges of motherhood.

International Health Initiatives: Maternal health is a global concern. I used to live in a country with one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world. Collaborative efforts to address maternal mortality, access to prenatal care, and safe childbirth contribute to a sense of shared responsibility for all women.

Advocacy for Women’s Rights: Maternal healthcare and childbirth are central to women’s rights worldwide. We support one another by advocating for policies and practices that prioritize the well-being of mothers and newborns.

While cultural practices and contexts may vary, the fundamental experiences and challenges associated with childbirth create a bond between women worldwide. The shared journey of motherhood fosters empathy, understanding, and a sense of interconnectedness that transcends geographical and cultural boundaries.
